Smiley face - 2 hr cake challenge?

So, 2 hours for a cake (except for cooling time - of course! :)) No problem!
I'm not much of a procrastinator but hey! it happens specially when it is a very
simple cake.  Simple cakes are the hardest! I'm like.. "no sweat!" I can do that tomorrow!!! So, I baked... 45 mins at 2:00am
Left it too cool as I am thawing my butter overnight  (didn't count)
I made the buttercream - 30 mins at 6:00am
Iced cake - 15 mins
fridged to set the buttercream whilst I have breakfast (didn't count)
fondant and decorate - 30 mins
---total time 2 hours---

Justin's Ninjago Cake

This was a very fun cake to make!  I love replicating.. it's very challenging but very fun!

Justin's name was hand cut with the LEGO print insipirated.  The "NINJAGO" and eyes was also handcut on fondant.

Gold dragon was hand drawn

The Tales of Two Baby Shower Pt. 1 - Paola

Wow! It's been awhile since my last posting.  It has been a CRAZY year.  No time to post so I'm looking forward updating my blog.  Let's start with a Baby Shower for a soon-to-be-born Baby Boy!

Vanilla Chiffon Cake with Mango Buttercream

Guest favours! Matching blue pails with a lolly and baby boy theme candies

On top of the cake above, my first foray to diaper cakes!

The cake theme is based on this party theme decoration

Star Wars Cake

Star wars cake...hmm, so many options... lego-like or not! But in the end, I found these cake toppers as a set,  with light sabers that actual lights up.  Instead of making the 3D figurines that will cost $$, this is an another alternative.

Farm Theme Cake

I received a request from Irene's cousin, Vanessa.  It's a barn/farm theme cakes and ideas for a smash cake.  A few emails later, we came up with this 2...Hope you like it!

Except for the balloon wires and a lollipop stick to support the horsey, everything is edible.  Barn is made out fo cake.   Vanilla cake with white chocolate buttercream.

Originally, made out of pink gumballs but since Gabriel is turning 2, pipped buttercream instead! The eyes and nose are made from turned over chocolate chips.

Pokemon Theme Party

I had not posted in awhile, be prepared... I have a few post to do!  First, Ty's 5th birthday.  Pokemon theme party featuring pokemon friends cake and pokeball cake pops.
Vanilla Cake with Vanilla buttercream

It's a love and hate relationships with cake pops, it's the only kind of cake I eat (must be because of the chocolate outer shell) but it's a labour intensive process.

Bake the cake, make the buttercream, shape the pops, freeze, melt chocolate, dip the pops, dry, decorate, dry some more and decorate then dry some more.

But, seeing how the kids love it... it's all worth every effort!

Thanks and hope you enjoyed it!

Couch Potato Cake

Okay.. I was not so sure about this cake at first.  Yes, it's very humorous! But, I never tried a cake like this before.  This was the first time I played around with RKT (Rice Krispy Treats).  In the end, I had fun with this cake, glad I made it and it was a good challenge.

Harris' Golf Cake

Lesson learned:  If you are committed to a cake... do not procrastinate! I had two hours to assemble, cover and decorate this cake.  Various things keeping popping up.  I'm so relieved that this cake turned out so cute!
Red Velvet with Cream Cheese frosting.

Little known Penguin - but SUPER none of the less!

One of our friends from school requested a SUPERTUX cake.  "Supertux?", I asked.  To make a long story short, it's a freeware game supplied to Linux customers. Their adorable boy, Ryan, loves the game and that started my journey getting to know Supertux.  To be honest, never heard of that game before and to be fair and design the cake accurately, I decided to play it.  It's not a bad game, the kids like it! It feels like and is very similar to Super Mario Bros.  I played it, designed it and made it.  Talk about dedication.  LOL.  Well hope you all like this cake.  I got quiet attached to the little penguin but I am happy to see that Ryan likes his cake and most importantly recognizes it as a Supertux cake.

Jorge's 26th

Paola wanted to surprise her fiance with a football helmet cake.  I never tried making a 3D helmet before so why not.  What a challenge! I was up pass 3am for this cake it's worth it.  I hope they both like it!!!
